You may need to wait until you have recovered, depending on the illness and other circumstances. Please inform the medical staff about any recent illness, fever, infection or medical treatment during the donor screening process.
Get adequate rest, eat a normal meal, stay well hydrated and bring any information requested by the blood centre. Avoid donating if you are feeling unwell.
Rest for a short period, take refreshments and drink adequate fluids. Avoid strenuous physical activity immediately after donation and follow the instructions provided by the blood centre staff.
Blood and blood components are stored under controlled conditions appropriate to the particular component. Temperature and storage conditions are monitored as part of blood-centre quality procedures.
